The npm install command we’ve used here is a command that uses Node Package Manager (npm) to install Gulp onto your computer. That’s not actually part of the command you run. And remember the “$” in the code above just symbolizes the command prompt. ( See the first comment by Pawel Grzybek if you don’t want to use sudo). Note: Only Mac users need the sudo keyword. When you’re done with installing Node, you can install Gulp by using the following command in the command line: $ sudo npm install gulp -g If you do not have Node installed already, you can get it by downloading the package installer from Node’s website. You need to have Node.js (Node) installed onto your computer before you can install Gulp. Let’s begin by installing Gulp onto your computer. You’ll also learn how to chain together different tasks into simple commands that are easy to understand and execute. Optimizes all assets (CSS, JS, fonts, and images) for production. Refreshes the browser automatically whenever you save a file. What we’re setting upīy the end of this article, you’ll have a workflow that does the tasks we outlined at the beginning of this article: Let’s now move on and find out how to setup a workflow with Gulp. Gulp configurations tend to be much shorter and simpler when compared with Grunt. The main difference is how you configure a workflow with them. Brunch is similar in its focus on assets, and it bundles in some of the most common other tasks like a server and file watcher. You can check out this article, this one, or this if you’re interested in finding out more. There are already multiple articles covering the difference between Grunt and Gulp and why you might use one over another. Broccoli focuses on asset compilation, one of the most common build tool tasks. (Chris has a post on getting started with Grunt here). The two most popular build tools out there right now are Gulp and Grunt. Tools like Gulp are often referred to as “build tools” because they are tools for running the tasks for building a website. It helps you get so good with the basics of Gulp that you can begin exploring everything else for yourself.īefore we dive into working with Gulp, let’s talk about why you may want to use Gulp as opposed to other similar tools. So yes, Gulp is extremely powerful, but you’ll have to learn how to use Gulp if you want to create your own customized build processes. If you’re crazy enough, you can even build a static site generator with Gulp (I’ve done it!). This is not a comprehensive list of things Gulp can do. This looks like a pretty good Gulp 4 starter. We’ll make some notes of that sprinkled through here to remind you. If you install Gulp 4 and try to do some of the things in this article, they won’t work. Like any major version change, APIs have breaking changes. Important Note! This article was written for Gulp 3.x, but now Gulp 4.x is out and recommended. Optimizing assets like CSS, JavaScript, and images.Reloading the browser automatically whenever a file is saved. It’s often used to do front end tasks like: Gulp is a tool that helps you out with several tasks when it comes to web development.

As it turned out the sides of the dough expanded and did stick to the foil and it deflated in those spots when I removed the foil to transfer it to the oven. So I dusted the top of the dough quite heavily with flour and made a high enough “tent” that I wasn’t worried about it sticking to the rising dough. I questioned tenting it with foil as I didn’t want the dough to come in contact with the foil as it began to rise. I can’t imagine what would happen to that big lump of dough if you tried to pick it up and transfer it to a Dutch oven or pizza stone after it had risen and before it was baked. After it had risen I was able to slide the parchment paper and dough off the baking sheet right onto the pizza stone inside the hot oven. Just letting it rise on the counter presented the problem of transferring it to the oven so I placed it on parchment on a rimless baking sheet. I had a few concerns and made a couple of adjustments: ♬ FEEL THE GROOVE – Queens Road, Fabian Graetz #breakhack #bread #stalebread #cookinghack #kitchenhack #breadtip Let it bake for 8-10 minutes until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Halfway across the river though, Twilight was suddenly lifted into the air. Twilight noticed it herself, and started walking across the river. “And look, the river’s no longer turbulent,” said Dweeb who noticed the calm water. “Well, at least this obstacle’s settled,” said Kaytlin. “So would the mustache,” Rainbow Dash whispered to Twilight. “Oh, it’s fine my dear,” said Rarity, “short tails are in this season. “Oh Rarity,” Twilight said as she looked at where Rarity’s tail once was, “your beautiful tail.” “Oh, hohohoho, my mustache, how wonderful,” he said. Upon seeing this, the serpent reacted with glee. She tossed the scale aside, and, using her horn, put the torn off tail in place of the serpent’s torn mustache. Rarity didn’t cut her coat with the sharp scale. Dennis, in complete disturbance, started going unconscious, only to regain complete consciousness when Rudy grabbed him and slapped him across the face as he said, “don’t even think about it.” “Rarity, what are you…”īefore Twilight could finish, there was a slash that sounded like a sword slicing through something hard. No one was sure what Rarity was trying to do. This hurt the giant reptile and he cried, “what’d you do that for.” “I cannot let such a crime against fabulosity go uncorrected,” said Rarity, who suddenly bit off one of the serpent’s scales. “It’s true, I’m hideous,” said the serpent. “All ruined without your beautiful mustache,” asked Rarity. “It’s so true,” replied the serpent, who was obliged to have nice comments about his appearance. “I know, I know,” said the serpent as he stroked his mane. “And your expertly coiffed mane,” added Rarity. How can you be so insensitive? Oh, just look at him such lovely luminescent scales.” While the ponies found this random, and not worthy of finding a solution for, Rarity stepped forward and approached the serpent as she said, “well of course it is. “That’s what all the fuss is about,” asked Applejack. “Ah, give me a break,” said Rainbow Dash. “And now, I look simply horrid,” the serpent finished as he splashed into the water, unintentionally making the heroes wet. The serpent showed half of his mustache missing. “Well, I don’t know,” said the serpent, “I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when this…tacky little cloud of purple smoke took a…WHISP past me, and tore half of my beloved mustache…clean off.” “Excuse me sir,” said Twilight, “why are you crying?” “That…is one…huge…snake,” said Cassidy, who was nervous and being reminded of her fear of snakes. “WHAT A WORLD,” he wailed, “WHAT A WORLD!” He was complaining and whining amongst himself. They all peaked from behind the vegetation and noticed a giant sea serpent with purple scales with an orange mustache and mane. Suddenly, everyone heard a loud crying sound. “How are we gonna cross this,” asked Pinkie Pie. The squad members stopped at their own pace and saw what Pinkie stopped at a turbulent river, too rapid and unstable to cross. Suddenly, Pinkie Pie came to a stop, making the other ponies crash into her. Everyone was still laughing as they continued through the forest. This was a silly moment, and it made them less frightened.Įventually, the journey continued. This obstacle was cleared, and everyone was laughing really hard. This strategy worked and all the monster faces were gone. This lyric was really fast and kind of silly, but it was efficient. “Oh my gosh,” exclaimed Kyle.Īnd tell that big dumb scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he can scare you then he got another thing and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna…hahahahahaha…hehehehe With that, everyone started laughing at the trees, making the monster faces disappear into small clouds of smoke. Pinkie Pie: She said, ‘Pinkie, you gotta stand up tallĪ monster face disappeared, and everyone gasped. “Oh girls, don’t you see,” replied Pinkie who broke out in song. “Pinkie Pie, Genie, what are you doing,” asked Twilight, “run!” Pinkie Pie was making funny faces at the tree while giggling. They looked and saw Pinkie Pie and Genie laughing at a scary face. But they stopped when they heard someone laughing. They were unable to take this horrific moment. Surrounded by scary faces in the darkness of the forest, the ponies and FT Squad screamed loudly. Performance of the free plan: What computational resources (RAM and CPU) does this service provide? In both instances, the incumbent router had been set up with default settings and basically left to do its thing. I also experienced similar, if less drastic, speed improvements (35Mbps to 48Mbps) when I installed Google WiFi at a colleague's house, and that was with both routers just feet away from the PC. So much so that I barely shrugged when the 100Mb of cable internet I signed up for often translated to 30 Mbps over WiFi. That's because there's a general resignation that WiFi never gives you the full internet speed you're paying for. But it's a problem that's potentially sitting in living rooms and dens everywhere, without people knowing it. This isn't to say that Google's product is the solution it's what it's replacing that's likely the problem. I realized my current Netgear router has been shortchanging me to the tune of about 70 Mbps of download speed. The first time I ran an internet speed test, I experienced a slight sinking feeling. Performanceīut what good are a modern user interface and a sleek design if a router doesn't get the basics right? Fortunately, Google WiFi does. Google WiFi, on the other hand, gets the balance of function and forgetableness just right. One of the things that puts me off Amazon's Echo devices is the slight gadgety appearance. That is to say, Google WiFi doesn't catch your eye, and should fit in with a wide range of home decors. Google WiFi's white cylindrical design, however, is fairly unremarkable, and that's precisely the point. A quick internet search for " wireless router" returns a slew of angular black boxes with ugly antennas that might look okay in an office or basement, but nowhere else.
